Bahraich / Uttar Pradesh, 3 November: On the complaint of a Dalit neighbor, a person quarantined kidnapped the complainant’s 12-year-old son and then murdered him. The accused migrant laborer Kalim has been arrested. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP Rural) Ashok Kumar said, “The accused migrant laborer Kalim was arrested on Monday after a short encounter. 5 people including 3 women from the family of the accused have also been arrested.”

According to reports, Aarti Devi, the former village head, and Omkar’s son Ved used to study in the 5th grade. On 29 October, he went for tuition class and did not return home till late in the night. The family then informed the police. Kaleem killed the boy and threw the dead body into the canal. After this, the victim’s family called and demanded 30 lakh rupees. The body of the boy was found 2 days later on 31 October in Saryu Canal in Shravasti district.

Police said that Kalim hid Veda at his relative Rabia’s house in Shravasti district. Kalim’s parents Hassan and Ayesha were arrested on Friday and their relatives Rabia, Israr Khan and Tahira were arrested on Saturday. Police have recovered a country-made pistol, ammunition, the victim’s bicycle and school books.

The ASP said that during the interrogation, Kalim admitted that he felt humiliated after quarantining him on Omkar’s complaint after coming from Mumbai. Due to the communal sensitiveness of the case, heavy army force has been deployed in the village.
