Telangana: 13-year-old girl burnt to protest rape, life ends in hospital

new Delhi: Last month in Telangana, a 13-year-old tribal girl was burnt for opposing the rape attempt. He suffered serious injuries after the burn, now he succumbed on Thursday night. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad for about a month. According to the police, a 13-year-old tribal girl worked at the house of the accused in Khammam town in Telangana. On 18 September, the accused attempted to molest her and when she protested, poured petrol on him and burnt him. It burned 70 percent of it.

The matter came to the attention of Telangana Police when the severely burnt girl was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad for treatment. The incident took place on 18 September but the police came to know about it on 5 October after the victim was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

“He died on Thursday night while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad,” Khammam Police Commissioner Tafsir Iqbal told PTI. Some sections of the Indian Penal Code were imposed against the accused which will be changed. Section 307 (attempt to murder) will be replaced by section 302 (murder) in the case.

The Telangana State Human Rights Commission took suo motu cognizance of media reports about the incident and summoned a report in this regard from the Khammam Police.
