Mumbai The Supreme Court has reserved the verdict on the petition of his girlfriend Riya Chakraborty, who is believed to be the main accused in the Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case. It is noteworthy that Riya demanded transfer of FIR lodged in Bihar to Mumbai. On this matter, the Bihar government told the Supreme Court that the FIR lodged in Patna in Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case in Mumbai is legal as well as valid.
The Bihar Police has alleged that the Maharashtra Police did not cooperate with the Bihar Police in the investigation of the case and the Mumbai Police did not even give a postmortem report to the Bihar Police. On behalf of Bihar government, advocate Mahinder Singh said that FIR has not been registered in Sushant Singh Rajput case in Mumbai yet. He also denied the allegations of political pressure, bias and influence imposed by Riya Chakraborty.
Mahindra Singh has also rebutted Riya’s allegation that father KK Singh had lodged an FIR against Patna Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at the behest of him for forcing Sushant Singh Rajput for suicide in Patna. A bench of Justice Roy is hearing a petition filed by Riya Chakraborty in which she has requested to transfer the FIR lodged at Patna’s Rajiv Nagar police station to Mumbai.
On behalf of Riya Chakravati, senior advocate Shyam Dewan argued in the court that the FIR lodged against Riya in connection with the suicide of her son by the father of late Sushant Singh Rajput has no relation with any crime in Patna. He said that it seems that the Bihar government has a hand in registering this FIR.
Shyam Dewan also referred to the developments in this case and said that it took a long time of more than 38 days to get an FIR registered in Patna. He referred to the FIR lodged by Rajput’s father in Patna and said that all the allegations made in the complaint belong to Mumbai. The Mumbai Police has so far recorded statements of 58 persons in this case and considerable progress has been made in the investigation of the case. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi on behalf of the Maharashtra government told the bench that he was opposing the jurisdiction of Bihar in the investigation of the case. Roy’s bench told Dewan that Riya Chakraborty in her petition requested a CBI inquiry into the matter.
Riya’s lawyer Dewan said, “Riya rests on what she has said in her petition and additional affidavits.” On 5 August, the court remarked during the hearing on Riya’s plea that Sushant Singh Rajput was a talented promising artist and the reasons for his death must be revealed.
The court said in its order that an unfortunate incident has taken place, in which a talented actor died under circumstances which are unnatural. It is now necessary to examine the circumstances in which it has passed away. The Center had also informed the court that the authorities had in principle decided to accept the request of Bihar Police to conduct a CBI inquiry into the matter.
