Sarv Pitru Amavasya 2020: This year, on the 16th day i.e. 17 September Thursday, Shraddhapaksha ends. The Amavasya of Ashwin month is called Sarvapitra Amavasya. In various places it is also known as Ashwin Amavasya, Badmavas, Mahalaya Amavasya or Darsha Amavasya. This Amavasya has special significance in Hinduism. On this day, the process of shraddh is done in two ways. First, those who died on Amavasya, Purnima or Chaturdashi date. Secondly, those whose date is not shraddha due to any reason or whose date of death is not known. They all perform shradh and tarpan etc. of their ancestors on the new moon day.
It is believed that the ancestors are very happy with the Shraddha performed on Amavasya day, because on this day the ancestors are departed, hence it is also called Pitru Visarjini Amavasya. On this day, ancestors from Yamalok expect tarpan and pindadan etc. from their dynasty. If their hopes are not fulfilled, then they return unhappy and angry and curse. It is said that there is no happiness, happiness, peace in the family due to the curse of fathers. Therefore, especially on this day, fathers should be satisfied, so that they will be happy and bless the family, increase their life and happy life. On this day, ancestors leave, so it is also called Pitru Visarjini Amavasya. On this day, ancestors are offered to the ancestors by a son, grandson or unmarried girl.

On the day of Ashwin Amavasya, wake up in the morning and take a bath. Put on clean clothes and make their favorite (in the living state which they liked) satvik dish for fathers and do Shraddha. For their sacrifice, take them out in three leaves or clean plate and take them out and feed the cow, dog and crow. In the evening, light four lamps of mustard oil. Keep them on the frame of the house. Now, keeping clean water and lit lamps in a lot, praying for your ancestors, pray that your ancestors are complete and bless all the members of your family and go back to your lok. After finishing the prayer, put a lamp filled with water and place the lamp under a peepal tree and offer water to the peepal. After remembering Lord Vishnu, pray for the peace of the ancestors. Keep the atmosphere of peace in the house during the procession and do not talk to anyone.
