- Paytm First Games named Sachin Tendulkar as its brand ambassador
- CAIT expressed its opposition by writing a letter to Sachin
- Chinese company Alibaba’s investment in Paytm First Games
Paytm First Games (PFG), a subsidiary of financial technology sector company Paytm, has appointed former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar as its brand ambassador. Paytm said in a statement on Tuesday that Sachin is a popular name among billions of cricket lovers. He can play an important role in creating awareness about exciting fantasy sports in the country. Not only fantasy cricket, he can also help PFG popularize other sports like kabaddi, football and basketball among people.
But small businessmen of the country, opposing it, have requested Sachin to reconsider his decision. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), an association of small traders in the country, has written a letter to Sachin expressing his opposition to this. CAIT national general secretary Praveen Khandelwal has said in a letter to Sachin that his decision has caused outrage in the country because the company which has made you a brand ambassador has investment in China company Alibaba. Paytm First Games is a joint venture of Paytm and Alibaba’s company AG Tech.

Request to reconsider the decision
Khandelwal said that China has brutally killed 20 of our soldiers and is repeatedly showing aggression on the border. In such a situation, you accepted to be the brand ambassador of a Chinese-invested company, which is against the sentiments of the people of the country. It is beyond comprehension how popular players like you failed to understand the pulse of the country. You are requested to kindly reconsider your decision and decline this offer. This will send a strong message to China that in this difficult time you are standing with the country.
