Riya Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Manashinde said that there should not have been a strict Section 27A of the NDPS Act against both. This section deals with the illegal trade in drugs which provides for imprisonment up to 10 years if found guilty. He said that if no drugs were found in his possession and there were allegations, the offense was bailable. Let us know that NCB has so far arrested 16 people including Riya and Shouvik.
Riya was arrested on 8 September
The NCB alleged that Riya Chakraborty is a member of the ‘Drug Syndicate’ and was allegedly involved in purchasing drugs in small quantities for Sushant Singh Rajput. Riya said in her petition that it is clear in the NCB case that only Sushant was a consumer. Let us tell you that Riya was arrested on September 8 and she is currently in Mumbai’s Bhaykala Jail.

Riya and Shouvik not a case of serious crime‘
Riya’s lawyer said that if both the siblings were arrested in the case of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, it should be transferred to CBI. He said, “Based on the decision of the Supreme Court, the case should be transferred to the CBI and all future cases should also go to the CBI.” He said, ‘Under the 1988 Gazette, the CBI has the right to investigate drug cases under the NDPS Act. Thus the investigation conducted so far is illegal. ‘ Citing amendments to several NDPS Acts, Satish Manashinde said that no case of serious offense is made against Riya and Shouvik.

The bail petition will be heard on September 29
Justice Sarang Kotwal asked Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Manashinde and NCB counsel Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh to elaborate on the next date of hearing on the facts related to imposition of Section 27A in the case and whether to grant bail or not. The court listed the current cases along with the bail pleas of Sushant Singh Rajput’s staff member Dipesh Sawant and house manager Samuel Miranda and alleged drugs smuggler Abdul Parihar. Now bail petitions will be heard on 29 September.
