One Nation One Ration Card: Four more states have also joined the ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ scheme. The Union Ministry of Food and Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs shared this information on Saturday. With the inclusion of Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur, Nagaland and Uttarakhand, the number of states and union territories on the ration card portability platform now stands at 24.
The government aims to include all states and union territories in this scheme by 31 March 2021, before which Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Gujarat, Kerala, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Odisha, 20 states and union territories including Punjab, Sikkim, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh have joined it.
“With the addition of four states, about 65 crore (80%) of the total beneficiary population associated with NFSA can now avail ration anywhere in these states / UTs through national portability,” the ministry said in a statement.
Explain that under this scheme ration card beneficiaries can buy subsidized food grains from ration shops in any part of the country. For this, they do not even have to apply for a new ration card. Earlier the beneficiary of one state used to go to another state, then he did not get subsidized food grains.
