Thane/Palghar: There were incidents of landslides and collapse of walls in Thane and neighboring Palghar district on Wednesday, the first day of monsoon rains. Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) regional disaster management cell chief Santosh Kadam said no casualty was reported in these incidents, but at least six vehicles were damaged due to falling trees during heavy rains. .

He said that there were reports of landslides on Panvel-Kalwa road and Mumbra bypass road in Mumbra. He said rescue teams have reached the spot to clear the roads and ensure smooth movement of vehicles. Meanwhile, low-lying areas of Mira-Bhayander and Vasai-Virar areas were also reported to be flooded. Dr Kiran Mahajan, CEO, Disaster Management Cell in Palghar said that no major rain-related accident has occurred in the district. The authorities have postponed the Kovid-19 vaccination in both the districts, as heavy rains are expected in these areas in the coming days.
