Japanese car maker Suzuki is preparing to make major changes to its three popular models Suzuki Alto, WagonR and Vitara SUV by 2021. The updated models of Alto, Wagonor and Vitara SUVs could be entered in India next year. New Generation Suzuki Vitara may arrive next month, while the new Alto may have its world premiere in December 2020. New Generation Suzuki Alto or the new Maruti Suzuki Alto coming to India can see 5 major changes.
Next Generation Alto will be based on the new platform
The Next Generation Alto may be based on the new Heartect platform. The car company says the architecture has been designed using ultra and advanced high strength steels. It is able to absorb and distribute the impact energy equally throughout the vehicle structure, which ensures passenger safety. In addition, NVH levels that handle the power-to-weight ratio of the vehicle have also been improved.

There can be major changes in design and interior
The design and interior details of the new Suzuki Alto have not been revealed yet. However, it is expected that major changes can be made to the design and interior of the new Alto. The entry-level hatchback can come with a completely new front-fascia, it may have a redesigned grille. Apart from this, the car can be updated with bumpers and revised headlamps. The new Alto can come with newly designed wheels, updated taillamps and bumpers. The touchscreen infotainment system can also be given in the higher variant of the hatchback.
Will be safer than before
Due to its new Heartect platform, the new Alto may be more safe than the current generation Alto. It is unlikely that dual airbags in the new model will be available as a standard safety feature, not as an option. Currently, Alto’s standard safety kit includes driver airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensor, co-driver seat belt reminder and speed alert system.

Car can come with new engine
Next Generation Suzuki Alto will come with the new R06D 658cc engine in Japan. This engine will generate power of 68bhp. There will also be a sporty version of the hatchback, which will have a turbocharged engine. At the same time, 2021 Maruti Suzuki Alto can come with 796cc naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine will generate a power of 48bhp with a torque of 69Nm. The car will come in manual and AMT gearbox options.

May be more expensive than before
With cosmetic changes, feature upgrades and new platform, the 2021 Maruti Alto may see some price increase. Currently, the price range of the hatchback model line-up is between Rs 2.94 lakh and Rs 4.36 lakh. These are all ex-showroom prices.
