Kolkata: A fire broke out in a five-storey residential building on Friday night at Ganesh Chandra Avenue in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, killing two people. According to the police, a 12-year-old child is also among those who died.
A fire brigade official said that a fire broke out on the first floor of the building located in the northern part of the city, which also spread towards the upper floor. Some more people are likely to be trapped inside the building.
State Fire Minister Sujit Bose said, “We have saved most of the people, but some are still trapped inside the building.” Efforts are on to rescue him. Hydraulic ladders and special units have been put into service to protect people. ”
Officials said that to save people trapped inside the building and extinguish the fire, at least 20 fire engines and a hydraulic ladder have been installed.
