Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra 2021: Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra which includes 21-day Chandan Yatra and this journey has started from Narendra Sarovar in Puri, Odisha. Last year, due to the pandemic, the festivity of the festival had faded a bit without the devotees present at the venue. This year the celebrations may be limited to priests and workers, who have already started building the chariots. However, Kovid-19 guidelines have been issued by the temple regarding this world famous Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra to be held in Odisha, due to which Section 144 is implemented near Puri Jagannath Temple and Narendra Sarovar. Devotees may have to see the grandeur of the journey by staying in their homes. The administrators have decided that the festival will take place without any visitors this year due to the pandemic. Here is every information related to the journey to be held on July 12.

What is the date of travel?

This yatra will take place on 12th July without any visitors.

Who will be allowed to join the yatra?

This year only sevadars and temple officials will participate in the rituals. However, it will be mandatory for them to take both doses of the Kovid-19 vaccine.

What is prohibited under section 144?

Section 144 imposed by the Shree Jagannath Temple administration on visitors states that visitors will be allowed to enter the temple only on July 25. The yatras and rituals will be observed by the sevadars and temple officials only on July 12. Apart from this, Puri District Magistrate-cum-Collector Samarth Verma said that Section 144 of CrPC will be implemented around the temple on bathing festival, bathing yatra of Trimurti Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra.

Every detail related to the journey

  • On June 24, Snan Purnima will start from Pahandi (walking tour of the gods) at 1 pm and will end at 4 am.
  • A ritual that involves a bathing place known as Chhera Pahanra is to be conducted by the Gajapati Raja Dibyasingh Deb of Puri at 10.30 am.
  • After extensive rituals, the deities will be decorated with Gajanan Besha or Hati Besha (Elephant Dress) between 11 am and 12 noon.
  • The trinity Lord Balabhadra, Goddess Subhadra and Lord Jagannath will be taken to a hall popularly known as Anasara Ghar. After this, between 5 pm and 8 pm, a procession for the return of the deities will be taken out from the bathing pandal inside the temple. The rituals of Ansara will continue for the next 15 days.
  • The world famous Rath Yatra will take place on July 12 without devotees and the procession will start at 8.30 am, while the Rath Yatra will start at 4 pm on the same day.
  • On July 21, the Suna Besha (golden dress) ceremony of the Lord will take place between 4 pm and 11 pm.
  • On July 23, the return of the Trimurti to Niladri BG- Main Temple will happen at 4 pm and the program will end at 10 pm.

Significantly, the program related to the world famous Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra of Odisha was finalized by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration on Sunday.
