At a time when players like Ben Stokes and Jason Holder are winning matches for their teams with their all-rounder performances, former India cricketer Irfan Pathan feels that the talent of Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is not enough.

Irfan, who recently highlighted the importance of being a match-winning all-rounder in the Indian team like Ben Stokes, said that Pandya still has a long way to go to become a match-winner.

According to HT reports, Irfan told, ‘Ben Stokes has become the number one all-rounder in the world, winning the match for England. My only wish is for Team India to have an all-rounder who can win the match for India.

Hardik Pandya is not in the top-10 in any format: Irfan Pathan

Irfan said that Pandya has potential but currently he is not among the top all-rounders in any format. Ravindra Jadeja is the only Indian included in the ICC ODI and Test all-rounders list.

Irfan said, ‘Unfortunately, Hardik Pandya is not in the top 10 (on the ranking) in any format of the game. There is no doubt about their ability. But I am saying that if we have an all-rounder with that kind of ability who wins the match, then Indian cricket will be invincible. If you compare player to player, we are much better than any other cricket team in the world. All you need is a piece to bring everyone together and that piece as an all-rounder. ‘

Pandya is out of Team India for a long time

Pandya, who recently became a father, has suffered from injuries several times in his short international career. The all-rounder returned to tour Australia and New Zealand next year, after being out of action for some time due to a back injury in the match against Pakistan during the Asia Cup 2018 in the UAE. But unfortunately, he was injured again during a T20 against South Africa in Bengaluru in September last year.

The all-rounder has been out of the Indian team ever since. He proved his fitness during the DY Patil Cup in February-March and is now waiting for the IPL 2020 to be played in the UAE during September-November.

Pandya’s role in the Indian team is important because his big hitting ability and clever bowling make him a special player. Since the retirement of Kapil Dev, the Indian team has failed to find a great seam bowling all-rounder. Irfan also had some success but said that he was far from the standard of Kapil Dev.

Irfan denied comparing himself to Kapil

Irrfan said, ‘Actually, nobody would like it because I don’t have a great management company doing my PR. I do not have that. I played cricket on my own. I do not have a godfather. Some of the older people sitting behind Mike – don’t speak of my achievement and I don’t have problems with it. I do not regret it. ‘

Irfan said, ‘Actually, if you reach that level, you can think of Kapil Paji. I’m fine with it As long as my team wins and as long as someone is performing at the place who is doing his job for the team and winning the match, it doesn’t matter whether he becomes Kapil Dev or Irfan Pathan. Get It does not matter.’
