Durga Puja 2020: Navratri, the sacred festival of worship and devotion of Maa Durga, is about to begin. Although the celebration of Sharad Navratri and Durga Puja is celebrated with pomp every year, this year Navratri and Durga Puja festival will not be celebrated with pomp because of the outbreak of Coronavirus Pandemic. This year, Sharadiya Navratri starts from October 17, which will end on October 25. During Sharadiya Navaratri, people of Bengali community celebrate Durga Puja festival with pomp. During Durga Puja, the main festival begins on Shashthi Tithi and Goddess Bodhan is performed on this day. During the Navratri, special importance of Shashti Tithi is told among the people of Bengali community. This year, Durga Puja festival will start from Thursday 22 October and will end on Monday 26 October.

Best date and its importance

Shashthi Tithi during Navratri is also called Mahashthi, which is falling on 22 October this year. People of Bengali community celebrate this day with great enthusiasm. It is said that on this day Goddess Durga comes to the earth and she is welcomed with Dhaka-Dhol and feast. On this day the face of the idol of Goddess Durga is unveiled. They are welcomed with pomp with Bodhan, invitations and worship. On the day of Bodhan, the face of the goddess is opened between the sound of a drum and the sound of a conch.
