New Delhi, 2 August: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday demanded a CBI investigation into the poisonous liquor tragedy in Punjab. So far 86 people have died due to drinking poisonous liquor in Punjab. Kejriwal claimed that the local police has not solved any case related to illegal liquor in the last few months. Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party is in opposition in Punjab.
He tweeted, “I am saddened by the death of people due to illegal drinking in Punjab. The state government needs to take immediate steps to rein in such mafia”. “This matter should be immediately handed over to the CBI as the local police has not solved any case of illegal liquor for the past few months,” he said.

In Punjab, the number of people who died after drinking poisonous liquor increased to 86 on Saturday. The state government has suspended seven excise and six policemen.
