New Delhi, 24 September. The Delhi Jal Board has approved a simplified procedure for new connections of water and sewer. Online applications will now be approved for new connections in Delhi. Those who cannot apply online, they can avail this facility by calling 1076 and taking the help of mobile assistant. Apart from this, in case the proprietary document is not available, the applicant can obtain a water-sewer connection with the Delhi Jal Board by giving 3 months paid electricity bill and self declaration, undertaking along with an identity document.
Technical investigation is no longer required. Where the colony has been notified or is within the height limit of the property of the applicant and the size of the terrain is less than 200 square meters. Such a change will bring more transparency and make the process simple and paperless. Detailed details of this scheme can be obtained from the revenue offices of Delhi Jal Board.
Delhi Jal Board Chairman and Water Minister Satyendar Jain approved the plans in the meeting of Delhi Jal Board on Thursday. It has been decided to award contracts to private operators for the operation and maintenance and management of water supply and sewerage networks in various areas of Delhi. It is on the lines of ‘one field, one operator’.
Satyendra Jain said, “Several proposals have been approved to improve the water distribution system. These include phasing out of utilizing the maximum capacity of groundwater, especially in summer to meet the demand of water by the residents of Delhi. Has approved the installation of 200 tubebells in flood areas of the Delhi Jal Board is currently collecting sewerage charges of 60 percent of the water bills where the sewerage system is installed.
