New Delhi, 16 September: Congress leader Digvijaya Singh (Digvijaya Singh) raised the issue of high prices of oxygen cylinders and black marketing in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. He claimed that many patients are dying due to lack of oxygen cylinders. Digvijay Singh said, “The government is changing the Essential Commodities Act and oxygen cylinders should also be brought under it.”
He said, “The price of oxygen is Rs 10 per cubic meter, which has now increased to Rs 50 per cubic meter.” He further said, “Due to this many patients have lost their lives and the government should take steps in this regard.” Digvijay Singh targeted the Union Health Minister, saying, “Even the Health Minister did not mention this issue during his speech.”

The total number of corona cases in India reached 5,020,359 on Wednesday, with 90,123 new cases, including 1,290 deaths in 24 hours. Corona cases reached 10 lakhs in India on 17 July, which again increased to 20 lakhs in 20 days on 7 August. These crossed 30 lakhs on 23 August, 40 lakhs on 5 September and then in 11 days finally the total cases reached 50 lakhs.
Maharashtra remains the most affected state with 10,97,856 cases, including 30,409 deaths. It is followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.
