Chatra (Chatara), 4 November: On Monday, two youths were allegedly gang-raped by a Dalit minor in the forest of Mehasha village of Mayurhand police station area in Chatra district of Jharkhand. Police has arrested one accused in this case while raids are on to arrest the other. Police sources said that the incident happened while the girl was going to school. While going to school situated at a distance from the village, the youths allegedly raped the girl after finding a deserted place.

The victim has alleged that two youths on a two-wheeler en route to the forest, after finding her alone, forcibly tied her mouth with a dupatta and picked her up in the thick forest next door and gang-raped her. A woman who went to feed the animal in the forest heard the student’s scream and made a noise. The shepherds identified the accused youths as Sandeep Kumar Mehta of Padma police station area and Mudrika Mehta of Mayurhand police station area.

Police said that after listening to the noise, both the youths managed to escape from the spot by taking advantage of the forest. Female shepherds took the victim to their home. The victim informed the family about the incident. Police said that on Tuesday morning, the victim student gave a written complaint against both the youths to the Mayurahand police station. Police station in-charge Rupesh Kumar Mehto (Rupesh Kumar Mehto) sent the victim student to the hospital for medical examination amid tight security.

Confirming the incident, Chatra Superintendent of Police Rishabh Kumar Jha said that the matter is of Monday. On Tuesday, the victim filed a complaint, soon after which the police took action and arrested the accused Mudrika Mehta from Gumla.

He said that the victim has been subjected to medical examination and her statement will be recorded in the court on Wednesday under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
