Chandigarh, October 18: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Saturday launched the second phase of the Smart Village Campaign in the state. The Rs 2,755 crore campaign launched virtually will help in completing the rural infrastructure of the state. Rahul Gandhi launched this campaign from New Delhi. Amarinder Singh and many ministers, officers, sarpanches of Punjab joined it from 1500 different locations.
Chief Minister Amarinder expressed happiness over the presence of Rahul Gandhi on this occasion and said that it will improve the lives of the people of rural areas, which will be based on technology. This will improve rural infrastructure. This is part of the rural transformation strategy of our government.

Underlining the role of the village in strengthening the foundation of the country, Rahul Gandhi said that any deficiency in the rural structure will affect the progress of the country. The former Congress president lauded the work done in the rural infrastructure sector of the government led by Amarinder Singh. He said that the money spent in the villages is the blood and sweat of the people of the state and this money should reach every beneficiaries without any corruption.
