In order to boost trade, the 40 percent discount on cargo going from India to Iran’s Chabahar port has been extended for one year. The Union Ministry of Shipping announced this on Friday. This exemption facility will remain on cargo transported between India’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port and Deendayal Port in the port city of Chabahar, Iran. Concessional vessel charges (VRC) will be applied proportionately. This would apply to cargo whose size would be equal to 50 TEUs or 5,000 tons.
Earlier, Union Shipping Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had said that trade is continuously increasing through Chabahar Port. Chabahar Port is very important from the point of view of trade between India and Iran. This does not allow India to enter Pakistan’s border to reach Iran from its west coast.
