Assam flood situation improves, 10.63 lakh people affected

Guwahati: There was some improvement in the flood situation in Assam on Saturday. In the 20 districts of the state, 10.63 lakh people are still affected by the floods. This information has been given in the official bulletin. 20 districts are still submerged in the state and about 75,710 hectares of agricultural land is submerged. The death toll due to floods and landslides remains at 135 in the state. Of these, 109 people have died due to floods and 26 due to landslides.

Gowalpara district in the state has been the most affected by the floods. About 3.41 lakh people have been affected by the floods in the district. After this, more than 1.73 lakh people in Morigaon and 38,448 people in Dhubri have been affected by the floods.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) daily report, the Brahmaputra river is flowing above the danger mark in Dhubri city, Nematighat in Jorhat and Tezpur in Sonitpur district, while its tributaries Dhansiri, Jia Bharali, Kopili and Becki also enter different districts. Are flowing above the danger mark.
