Arsenal beat Chelsea 2–1 in the FA Cup final played at the empty Wembley Stadium on Saturday night to record the most 14 title wins. In second place is Manchester United, having won the FA Cup 12 times. While Chelsea and Tottenham have become champions 8-8 times. The final was also special for team manager Mikel Arteta. He became the first person to win the title for the club as a captain and manager.
Arteta has his first season with the club as a manager. He was appointed manager of the club after Unai Emery last year. Arteta is also the first person to win the FA Cup title for Arsenal in their first season since 1986–87. George Graham had achieved this feat before him.
Arsenal qualified for Europa League
Arsenal have qualified for the Europa League for the first time since 1995–96, defeating Chelsea in the FA Cup final. For Chelsea, Christian Pulisic scored in the first five minutes of the match, but in the 28th minute, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored the match for Arsenal.
Chelsea had to play 10 players
Both teams were tied 1–1 in the first half. In the second half also Pierre showed a great game and gave the team an edge in the 67th minute. Chelsea tried hard to make a comeback, but Matteo Kovacic had to leave the field as the team had to play only 10 players. Kovacic was shown the yellow card by the referee for the second time in the match. That is why he had to go out.
Arsenal beat same team in FA Cup final 3 times
Arsenal are the most successful team in FA Cup history. He is the first club to beat Chelsea in three separate finals. Arsenal had previously defeated Chelsea in 2002 and 2017 in the title clash. The club’s record in the finals is superb. It made it to the FA Cup finals 7 times since 2002 and won the title every time.
Arsenal players wore a jersey inscribed ‘Always 14 forward’ to celebrate the FA Cup title win for a record 14th time.
