Choksi and his nephew Nirav Modi fled India in the first week of January 2018, a few weeks before the Rs 13,500-crore fraud in Punjab National Bank came to light.

Nirav Modi had fled to Europe and was later captured in London where he is facing extradition trial to India. Choksi had taken citizenship of Antigua and Barbuda in 2017 and was living there after escaping from Delhi.
