Amar Singh, a Samajwadi Party MP in Uttar Pradesh, died in Singapore today. Amar is said to have once emerged as a Chanakya for former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, which earned him the title of Troubleshooter. Later, when the separation took place between Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav, his name rose rapidly at that time. It was said that Amar Singh was responsible for the distance between Akhilesh and Shivpal. On many such occasions, Amar Singh was given the title of breaking the house.
During a flight in 1996, Amar Singh met the then Defense Minister Mulayam Singh after which he entered politics. However, even before that he had met Mulayam Singh but only after that Mulayam Singh decided to make him the General Secretary of the party. Amar Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP from the Samajwadi Party, was allegedly expelled from the party following a family dispute. It is said that Azam Khan and Akhilesh Yadav played a big role in his removal from the party. However, in the year 2010, Mulayam Singh has also removed him from the party, after which he also retired from political life for some time. But in the year 2016, he again returned to the Samajwadi Party.
Cocktail of film, politics and business
It is said about Amar that he is a cocktail of politics, film and business. He also proved this while staying in Samajwadi Party. There have been times when he has overcome the problem with his political acumen. Amar Singh did the work of bringing Jaya Bachchan into politics, but at the time of his expulsion from the party, his distance from the Bachchan family increased, which still remains today. It is also said that during the bad times of Amitabh Bachchan, Amar Singh had supported him a lot.
Allegations of breaking the Mulayam family
In 2016 itself, amid the ongoing tussle between Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav over the party, the alleged ‘outsider’ who was repeatedly held responsible by one Ram Gopal was none other than Amar Singh. However, Mulayam kept himself away from the controversy and Amar Singh was again expelled from the party. At that time, Amar Singh was also accused of promoting Mulayam and Akhilesh as Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb. Amar Singh returned to the Samajwadi Party after six years, returned to the Samajwadi Party in the year 2016. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha but soon he had a difficult day ahead. A year later, Akhilesh became the supremo of the party after a tremendous uproar in the Samajwadi Party. Amar Singh was then sidelined.
Mulayam went away after Akhilesh Yadav’s arrival
There was a time when Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh used to trust him a lot but as Akhilesh took over the reins of the party, Amar had to look out like a fly in milk. However, there was a time when Mulayam used to trust him a lot. He was considered suitable for the party. He was on his shoulders for all important responsibilities ranging from networking.
Allegations of division in the Ambani family
Dhirubhai Ambani passed away in the year 2002. However, at that time Dhirubhai Ambani had not written a will regarding the partition of Reliance Industries, which had a turnover of 80 thousand crores, after which Mukesh and Anil Ambani got into a dispute over the property. Anil Ambani also appealed to the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for help in this matter.
Anil Ambani was also close to the then SP supremo Mulayam Singh due to his friend Amar Singh. However, due to this Mukesh Ambani was also angry with his younger brother, which further increased the distance between them. Later, Samajwadi Party also offered Rajya Sabha seat to Anil Ambani but he refused.
Bachchan family apologized
Amar Singh issued a video apologizing to Amitabh Bachchan and his family from a hospital in Singapore and apologized. While releasing the video, Singh had said that despite Amitabh Bachchan messaging him on his birthday, on the death anniversary of his father, I should regret my statement. After the relationship with SP deteriorated, Amar Singh made several verbal attacks on Amitabh Bachchan.
Name sprung up during note for vote as well
Amar Singh’s name also figured in the alleged bribing of MPs in a no-confidence motion brought by the BJP over the proposed nuclear deal with the US during UPA 1. When Faggan Singh Kulaste, Mahavir Bhagaura and another MP waved bundles of notes in Parliament. However, he was later acquitted of these charges.
