Bhubaneswar, 2 August: With the arrival of 1,434 new patients of Covid-19 in Odisha, the total number of infections on Sunday increased to 34,913 while the death toll of 10 more people rose to 197. A health department official said that new patients of Kovid-19 appeared in 29 districts. The maximum of 320 Ganjam, 218 Khurda, 197 Raigad, 123 Cuttack, 91 Gajapati and 76 cases have been reported in Sundargarh. In Odisha, four patients died in the most affected district of Coronavirus in Ganjam district since Saturday.

Three people lost their lives in Khurda, one in Jajpur, one in Sundergarh and one in Kalahandi. The official said that the first death occurred from Kovid-19 in tribal-dominated Kalahandi district. The Department of Health and Family Welfare said in a statement, “It is sad to inform that 10 patients of Kovid-19 died during treatment in hospitals.” In Gajapati, a 65-year-old patient infected with the corona virus also died, but the department has attributed the cause of his death to kidney disease.

He said that out of 1,434 new patients, 889 people were found infected in isolated centers. People coming in contact with infected people are being traced. In Odisha, 13,403 people are still infected while 21,274 people have recovered from the disease. On Sunday, 14,608 samples were tested in the state. A total of 5,43,316 samples have been tested so far.
